Our members have embarked on an exciting new project for December and January: an introductory course diving into the world of HTML. This foundational language is essential for creating and structuring websites. Throughout this course, participants will explore various HTML elements, learn how to format content, and gain the skills needed to build a basic web page from scratch. By the end of the project, members will have a solid understanding of HTML and be well-equipped to take on more advanced web development challenges in the future. This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to develop new technical skills and expand their knowledge in the ever-evolving field of web development.
Straight from an official Hack Club email:
Het, Thomas here,
You're invited to Hack Club Juice: a 2 month long game jam (Feb 1st - April 1st) where we're working together every week making our first games & then shipping them to Steam. I'm building my first game with @Paolo.
April 4th -11th, we will open a popup cafe in Shanghai, China together (travel stipends available). Every hack clubber that makes a game (see criteria), will receive a flight stipend to come to Shanghai to run this cafe with us. Beginners welcome!
Kickoff this Saturday (Feburary 2nd, 2025) 7:30 PM EST, cya then!
2 Minute Launch Video: https://www.youtube.com/watchv=b4OWtrrAZ1o&feature=youtu.be&scrlybrkr=72fcaf1e
You'll land at the airport, get transport to the cafe, and then at the cafe, you'll set your laptop up on a wooden table. In the background you'll hear boiling water, game sounds, and you'll be looking at your laptop seeing a person playing your game who doesn't speak your language but has a smile on their face because of the game you made.
In the evening you & every other hack clubber who finishes their game will share curry and share the experiences we had demoing our games & being in a place that has a totally different internet, a totally different set of technologies, a totally different world. Each day we'll iterate and get better at running the cafe and attracting people to come try our games.
This adventure is specifically for you, the person who has never built a game and who has never left their home country, this is the fork in the road. Over the next two months you & I are going to get on call with a bunch of other Hack Clubbers and we'll figure out how to ACTUALLY MAKE OUR OWN GAME & how to make this adventure happen.
I know this seems impossible. Take a second and think about it. What would it look like if you decide to embark on this adventure & make it happen? Who would you become?
Here's a little blog I wrote about how I went to New Delhi, India to attend Epoch when I was in high school. It was a turning point in my life where & it was where I met some of my closest friends (Sam, Dev, Fayd, Nila, etc).
The choice is in your hands, what do you decide?
